IBM wins $44.9m in infringement lawsuit against Zynga

  • Jury found in favour of IBM, which says Zynga's Farmville game breached patents
  • IBM convinced a Delaware jury that mobile developer Zynga infringed its web-based communications patents with its hugely successful mobile game, Farmville, as well as several spin-off titles.
  • Zynga owner Take Two says the patents are now expired and that it will appeal (they weren't expired when the supposed infringing took place)

VR studio nDreams is set to lay off up to 17.5% of its staff

  • On LinkedIn, nDreams lists its headcount as between 201 and 500 employees, intimating anywhere between 35 and 88 jobs are at risk at "all levels" of the organisation.
