The Sims 5 not happening as EA moves "beyond linear, sequential Sims releases"

  • Sims 4 will receive "new expansions, updates, fixes and modernizations"
  • Project Rene has not been cancelled but will now site alongside Sims 4
  • Community creators (packs made with community made assets) will also be provided for Sims 4
  • The Sims 4's release schedule continues this Thursday, 19th September, with the launch of its Artist Studio and Storybook Nursery DLC, while the still-mysterious Life and Death Expansion Pack arrives on 31st October. Additionally, EA previously confirmed MySims and MySims Kingdom are heading to Switch as a two-game bundle on 19th November

Scopely cancels unannounced project, begins transitioning team to other work

  • Scopely says it has "every intention" of keeping on employees from the project.
  • In a statement to Game Developer, a Scopely spokesperson indicated no staff had been laid off at time of writing, and said it intends to move impacted developers to other teams within the studio
  • The statement claims employees on the project will be moved onto Scopely's version of "The Bench"
