Xbox Cloud Gaming now lets players stream select games they own

  • 50 titles are currently supported and the feature is available on PC, phone, tablet, handheld, and most devices with access to a web browser.
  • Supported titles at launch include Baldur’s Gate 3, Cyberpunk 2077, Modern Warfare 2, Final Fantasy XIV, Hogwarts Legacy, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, Star Wars Outlaws and Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2.

Unknown 9 developer Reflector Entertainment lays off 18% of staff

  • Studio says affected employees "aren't assigned to roles that our active projects require"
  • Reflector Entertainment is the developer behind Unknown 9: Awakening, the first in a series of action adventure games with a transmedia universe built around it. Other Unknown 9 outlets include a podcast audio drama, novels and a comic book series.
  • The studio landed Bandai Namco as publisher, with the Japanese company acquiring Reflector back in 2020 ahead of Unknown 9's release.
  • Unknown 9: Awakening was originally due for release this summer, but was delayed to October 18, 2024. It released to mixed reviews, and it unclear how well it has sold.

FromSoftware parent Kadokawa confirms buyout interest from Sony

  • Sony sent the firm a letter of intent to acquire its shares, but "no decision has been made at this time," CEO says
  • Rumours circulating online state that this is to prevent a hostile takeover from Kakao (a large South Korean company), who has been buying shares in Kadokawa since 2020.

Kwalee lays off "at least 10" people

  • Rumour states most of the redundancies affect Kwalee's marketing team
  • Earlier this year, Kwalee laid off an unknown number of staff following a restructure to better align itself to "significant growth opportunities.". Kwalee confirmed that less than 40 people had lost their jobs, and clarified it was planning to grow its headcount from 346 workers last year to between 410 and 420 this year.
